A Piece of Cake

Hi there Friends.
As you all know my baby turned 21 on Easter Sunday...Saturday was a busy day baking and preparing,so late on Saturday night I needed to work out a way to decorate Raphaella's cake. the quickest way for me was to use my Sizzix Tattered Florals and some alluminium...
I started this lay-out on USTREAM  on Zeffy Scraps and I have just finished it. I used Dovecraft paper called Piece of Cake and decorated my L.O with the cake decorations......I used the sketch from Once Upon A Sketch I have secret journaling in the pocket behind the photo....one pulls it out using the bracket as a tab. And I have many many reasons to scrap this photo....believe you me.
You will notice the little heart buttons, those I made....so I hope that the DT on Simon Says stamp and Show like them!
And lastly seeing that 21 is the beginning of a new phase in my babies' life I thought that the girls at Bird is the Word would like to see this LO too.
Girls love and leave you I have about 15 young adults coming for dinner so i need to go and get my food ready..
Be good.
Love Zeffy.

Greek Orthodox Traditions,Candles for the Holy Light

Hi there my Scrapbooking Friends,
Today I want to share with you these three candles that I made for my nephews.
Let me first tell you why we have candles for Easter. At Midnight Mass the priest comes out of the alter with the Holy Light (see here ...amazing!) chanting "Christ has Risen" This Holy Light has been delivered to all Orthodox churches throughout the world....We take the light home and light our oil lamps, and try to keep it burning for as long as possible.
As in all things these days, candles  have become very commercialized and the shops are filled with fancy candles! God-Parents usually buy one for their Godchild, and as I have baptised my nephew I make a candle for him and his two brothers each year...
The boys are getting old now, Peter is almost 15 and and the little one almost 10..so I kept the candles very simple this year....ok ,I was also challenged by Simin Says Stamp and Show to show a Tim Holtz technique.

I used Tim Holtz, Lost and Found Salvage Stickers, for Peter's candle he loves movie making and has help do the lighting at the school plays so I used two vintage theatre tickets on his candle, I mounted them onto cardstock first and the distressed and inked them.
For Nicholas's candle I used the bookplate from the Tim Holtz Tag die,  I cut grunge paper, then I embossed with Broken China distressed embossing powder, then I inked with Vintage Photo. I used the Alphas from the Salvage Stickers, and then finished the whole thing off with a good slick of crackle medium...metal elements are alcohol inked..
On the last cadle for Andreas I used the soda pop stickers that I glued into old bottle tops...
That is it for now.....I also want to tell you that I will be streaming again next week on Zeffy Scraps on Tuesday and Wednesday at 21H30 GMT+2
I wnat to take to wish you all a very blessed Easter full of forgiveness, love and hope....
God bless
Love.

Mariposa Mini

Hi there my Friends.
By the grace of God and the support of my local and international friends I have another copleted project!!
Last night on Zeffy Scraps with Friends I completed the box to house the mini, it is a re-cycled box from an exclusive perfumerie...
I also bound the mini last night on USTREAM only to undo it and re-bind it this morning with beads as spacers between the pages, thanks Kathryn for the cool suggestion.
I will do a video of the project tomorrow, but if you want to take a look at how it was made pop over to my USTREAM videos at the above link. As the title suggests the papers I used are from DCWV the Mariposa range....thanks Weezie!!
Here is the box.

And here is the mini...

I am planning to enter both these project into the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge for this week...
Keep well girls take care...I will see some of you on Saturday at  the lovely Natalie's lesson.
God Bless.

Mariposa=Butterfly

Hi there my friends.
I hope that you are all well and that you all had a restful week-end.
Tonight I want to share my latest project with you. A mini that I am making for a young lady that has just become engaged.
When I decided to make a mini for Maria I knew straight away that it had to be with my beloved Mariposa papers....I loved this paper as soon as I saw it and as you all know Weezie had send me a stack more than a year ago if I remember correclty.
I have been working on this mini on my USTREAM show Zeffy Scraps. here are a couple of pages from the mini.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that I will not be streaming this week as I will be visiting my son, I will however be back the following week and I intend  to complete the cover of this mini.
Keep well I hope you all have a fantastic week.
Keep well.

Zeffy a Greek Scrapbooker.

Hi there my Scrapbooking Friends..
My friend Christina invited me to play a game...
We had to write something about ourselves, some of our favourite music and a favourite quote....
Christina I took up your challenge, in my Art Journal, I wtote something about myself, but please forgive me as I will not continue this chain-(letter) ,simply because  I do not have time to search through blogs to find out who has played along and who has not..... Actually you will have noticed I am not a big fan of chain-letters.

I found the picture of an old Orthodox Church in an airport magazine, I immediately connected with it,especially since it had 2 icons of some of the Saints that influence my daily life.....
Part of this challenge was to invite 8 fellow bloggers to participate, I in turn invite all of my readersy to write something about yourselves today, something about where you are, what you like and where you are going....as I said...do not settle for MEDIOCRITY!
I am a very lucky lady because I am going to visit my son, in Cyprus, next week. So I will not be able to stream this  coming week.......
See you all on  ZEFFY SCRAPS  on the 29th March at 21H30 my time GMT+2
Thats all for now...get that journaling out its free therapy..

Cyber Inspiration.

Hi there my friends.
This following project has been as a result of two people...or should I rather say three??
Ok the story is as follows....I met Natalie Kalbach at PACS I did 2 lessons with her...she is fantastic! As a result I am friends with her on Facebook, last week she uploaded a photo that I LOVED!! It was of a book that was given to her by a friend Anna, I loved it so much that I made 2 journal pages trying to get the same effect...needless to say mine is not nearly as good as Annas'!
2 Nights ago I joined a group of Kathryns' on the {Scrap} Beach .A group encouraging us to use up all the old stash.
So I got thinking.....mm need 4 thank-you cards, have paper I have never used....and let me do some more collage...I love it!!
Here are 2  tags that I made last night...they still need their fibre and ribbons and I will complete the other 2 tonight on Zeffy Scraps with Friends on USTREAM.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the crafters on the cyber network for all the conscience or sub-conscience influence in my life!
 Love you Ladies!

Wisdom

Hi there my Friends,
I hope that you are having a serene Saturday,
Yesterday morning I was able to sit for a while and put together this L.O.
I will enter it in a couple of challenges...
When Irini told me that the challenge at Get Creative was to make a L.O. about something you love, I knew straight away that it would be about my owls...I think that they are amazing animals and if you have ever seen one "Live" you will know what I am talking about.
I did pottery in South Africa with Digby Hoets, for about 3 years,I stopped when we moved to Greece, Digbys' studio/workshop was in this huge barn-like building in his vast garden, there were many species of birds....and in the rafters above the doorway was this beautiful white Barnowl....I used to see her every Wednesday morning...asleep, sometimes awake amd staring at me!.I have also been lucky enough to have seen owls at night in the South african bush...an amazing experience...and then there is Molly the  USTREAM owl....ok you guys get the picture I love owls!!

Here are 3 owls from my little collection....I used this sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches

I will also enter this L.O. into the Love challenge of  Scrap Our Stash my friend  Helena did one too...hers is much much nicer!!
And lastly because I have frames around my photos I thought I would enter THIS challenge too.
Thats all for now.
Love Zeffy.
P.S. Take a look at Digby's site.....it made me so home-sick!
STASH used:

Some Stripes

Hi there Ladies.
How are you all doing today? I Hope well.
As you all know I like to enter the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge whenever I can, this week we had to show some stripes. As you all know I am busy with a Graphic 45 Steampunk DebutanteMini/Journal.
So, last night I streamed on USTREAM and I decided to do two pages of my Mini/Journal with stripes for the challenge. Here they are:

I will explain them briefly for more details take a look at the Video the first page has a pocket with two tags, the one made of aluminium and embossed with the Tim Holtz Collage and Notebook set. The second page houses a mini notebook with aquaerelle papers for the sketching of quick ideas. The gears on both pages are from the T.H. Timeworks Mask Set, which I fussy cut. The metal disk says Artful.
That is all for now ladies ..
I have to run off and get a couple of things done today..
Keep well.

More projects.

I have always believed in doing things whole-heartedly, I do not believe in half measures. Passion is and has been a basic ingredient in my life. So when I saw the challenge on  Bird Is The Word  this month I knew that I had to do this L.O. Passion  is a state of mind, a love for certain things in my case flowers.I used the Sweetness range of Pink Paislee papers...the two pink flowers in the bottom corner are hand made.

One of my new passions is my USTREAM show Zeffy Scraps, the picture below is a mini album that I as a Guest Designer for Enjoy Scrapping, it was made from a lovely kit that Lena put together consisiting of Basic Grey's 'Curio" line.I made it live on my show, which is in Greek.
I decided to make an envelope album. It will be used for photos of a future trip that we are planning to Cyprus, out son Michael is working there.
When I heard that some of my English speaking friends were watching the Greek videos, and not understanding a word, I decided that it was time to start streaming in English  too. So on Tuesday evenings you can find me on Zeffy Scraps with Friends doing the English streaming and on Wednesday night I stream in Greek.

Have a good sunday....God bless.
Love Zeffy.

Friday Frenzy

Hi there Friends!
I hope that you have all had a productive week...its Friday again ,so its time to post some finished creations.
As you all well know, challenges on various sites are there to motivate us and to get our creative mojo going,it works with me....
So here are 2 of this weeks projects. The first is a tag that I did on-line during my USTREAM show Zeffy Scraps With Friends it is for the Simon says Stamp And Show weekly challenge, and you all know how I love tags especially Tims ' tags.
I inked and embossed and Perfect Pearled the Sizzix Alterations cage ala Tim Holtz and painted  and crackled the bird.  This tag is going to be on a blue envelope page in my Mini/Journal that I am making with Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante papers so I thought that the stamp fromViva Decor that I found in a little shop here in Athens matched the Fantasy Floral  design realy well I coloured the flowers with my Ranger distress inks. The cage  attached to tag with a chain and is backed with acetate because it swings.
And this is  a L.O. of  Winston my Grand-Puppy...he is SOOO cute.
For this page I used a variety of products, I will list them at the end of this post. I stitched the border around the photo with my sewing machine using a thickish thread. I was inspired by  a L.O. made by Louise that is on Sarahs Cards design team. I misted with home-made misting made out of Broken China Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls and the little rope circles are home-made to match the rope toy on Winstons bed!
This page will be entered in the Get Creative challenge to make a LO using white, blue and grey.
Thats it for now guys, off to clean and tidy my home and then I want to complete a LO with the word "Passion"
Lots O Love.

Forever

Hi there..
I made this L.O. using the Echo Park" Be Mine "paper collection....I decided to use a photo of my daughter Taken just 3 days before her wedding.
I used  a tutorial of  Kaori Fujimoto to make the hand- made roses, although I much prefer making  roses with  flowers with 6 petals I think that the flower works out more symmetrical.
Elina had this tutorial on her blog and she challenged us to make a layout with roses...

Then as you all know Get Creative now has a page map challenge each month , I will submit this there too,so I though I would kill 2 birds with one stone.
By the way the journaling spot is cut out of a sheet of paper with the Alterations On The Edge dies.
That all for now.
Lots of love.

Hi there to all my Scrap Buddies.
I Hope that you are all going to have a good week.....Let my tell you a little about my LO. Firslty most of you have seen this one because I made it "live" on USTREAM My aim was to enter this page into the Get Creative challange.....which was to do a layout with blue, white and grey... well the next day when I looked at this again I decided that my grey was actually too brown and not grey enough!....So I will not enter the this challenge but here is the page anyway. The 2 aces were cut out of a sheet of  Restoration paper.
I also loved  the photo of Michael sitting on this cliff so I scrapped it too and seeing that it is his birthday tomorrow I thought I would dedicate this post to him.
Michael  "Happy Birthday"  may you have  a great year and may this your 25th year be a beginning of great things!!

Just a short post I am off to complete the guest book that I am busy with...talk again tomorrow.

Blue..

Hi there Girls..
Seeing that I forgot my Pre-Crop Challenge at home on Saturday, I thought I would share it with you today. Our challenge from Irini was to make a monochromatic lay-out.
I had this lovely photo from a station in Scrapbookland...oops I mean Paris...in fact the  Concorde Metro Station  I loved it as soon as I saw it and Paraskevi, Chryssa and I posed for a photo there. The walls reminded me of Tiny/Mini Alphas! That is why I thought it would be perfect for the Pre-Crop Challenge.

The blue houndstooth paper is Pink Paislee "Trellis" that I inked with Broken China Distress ink, the scrap under the photo is Basic Grey  Periphery "Chablis"that got inked with Broken China then with Pine Needles by mistake, so it turned green.....and I really wanted to use it because the swirls reminded me of the Metro's art deco enrtances....so I washed it, yes I did! And when it dried I re-inked it. I made a pocket out of the Sizzix Locket die to house my used metro tickets .
On Wednesday  the 9th at 21H30   I will be making my L.O. for  Get Creative live on USTREAM. If you would like to join me while I work please pull out your white, blue and grey papers and join us on Zeffy Scraps.
I am thinking of using some photos of my hubby and son taken at Vikos Gorge, Greece in November. As a matter of fact it is one of the deepest gorges in the world! An amazing  and beautiful experience!
Talk again real soon.
Zeffy.

Time to show some LOVE.

Hi there my scrapbooking friends.
As you know I played the game Pay It Forward and so I owe 5 lucky ladies 5 little somethings that I have made.
Yesterday we went to a crop that Irini from Get Creative organised, it was lovely to see all the gals and believe it or not I actually got some things done this time!
I managed to get 2 of my gifts done, the one I have already given to Christina (she was there) the other is for Sofia and here it is....

I decided to make little note-books out of smoooth Aquarelle Paper,to be used for stamping images at crops, or for making notes ,or for keeping records of ideas,
they could also use it for a mini art journal when travelling.
Unfortunately I used a scrap piece of paper so Ican't remember the mane of this paper, but the roses are from the Tim Holtz Alterations, Tattered Florals and the swirl and the frame are also from the Alterations Range .
This past week at Simon Says Stamp and Showwe were challenged to show some love!!
That is what I am doing showing love and sharing too......Remember my new show on Tueday at
So enjoy your Sunday , and I hope that the gals on the 'Beach" enjoy the crop and I will to chat with some of you o USTREAM on
Tuesday the 8th at 8pm my time  GMT+2
Lots O Love!

USTREAM...new show!

Hi there  my friends.
Is it not amazing how sometimes a small or big gesture from a friend can spark off something and set you off in a direction you were maybe thinking of going? Or maybe just sparks off a new idea entirely!
As you all know I stream on Zeffy Scraps in Greek. A couple of my english speaking friends tell me that they watch anyway....Bravo takes a lot to watch a show and not understand a word!
So.....I was thinking  an english show perhaps???? Too much commitment?  Maybe a big schlepp..mmm
But...yesterday I received a parcel from America and wow what a parcel! Well that send me over the edge and I decided today, the begining of a new month that its time to start Zeffy Scraps with Friends.  I will be doing this show in English so that the rest of my friends can  share with me and join the fun.

So join me on Thursday at 7pm  for a bit of a chat and a show and tell. I will show you my "Gift Box" and I will tell you what I am planning to make.
I am hoping to host the show every Tuesday evening at 8pm as from next week.
Zeffy Scraps will continue weekly on Wednesdays at 9.30 pm in Greek...made it later so kiddos can be tucked into bed!
I hope that you all have a fantastic February and I will see some of you scrappers at the crop on saturday.
God Bless

Greek Challenges

Hi to all my Scrapbooking friends.
Yes I have had a hectic week-end scrapping, Here are 2 more L.O s for the Greek Challenges. I must admit that Irini  from Get Creative was my inspiration for these L.O. with her challenge "Bye-bye 2011" and " Hello 2011."
I have not used the same titles....don't know if that is allowed, but anyway I enjoyed what I created and at the end of the day that is what its all about.

Papers used here are Jillibean Pasta, Home Sweet Home, die cut is Making Memories and the flower is Mulberry streeet.

The second L.O  follows on Irini's theme but I made it according to the tutorial on Elina's blog Scrapbooking in Greece for Challenge #13...ok once again I did not follow instructions exactly!! Hell I am over 50 and can do things as I please! I was a goody goody all my life...time to break a couple of rules!!
So this is what I did....I used Gesso but not on a pattern paper and not in the middle of the page...I used my gesso to make a pattern! I used a die cut paper as a stencil.

Then I Glimmer misted, and found a couple of scraps left over from die-cutting Sizzix flowers and used those instead of the masking tape.
I then painted a black block with some acrylic paint after that I sponged the flowers  in with Pearl White Dabber paint  and then stamped script over them with brown Staz-On ink..
I Fussy cut the daisies out of  I.O.D.papers...
So here is the L.O. Face 2011 !! This is my Son-in-law who by the way ,my daughter has always associated with lady beatles because his surname sounds like the word Ladybug in Greek!! (hence the ladybugs on the daisies!) The other cutie pie is their puppy Winston who arrived into their home 2 weeks ago!
Thats all Folks...hope that you have a good week and I will see some of you at the crop on Saturday...I am off to work on my pre-crop challenge, I am a Goody -goody at heart!
Love Zeffy.

I was 4

Well Scrapbooking Friends.
Here I am again this time with a very old photo that was saved and scanned by my brother Lee...the little guy in the bow-tie!
This L.O. is for the challenge on Simon Says Stamp and Show we had to showcase a childhood memory.
I am the girl with the bow, always had bows in my hair and the baby in my dad's arms is my sister Val who got married last year. This was taken in my parents bedroom, I recognise the furniture! That is why we should not crop our pictures too much, because the surroundings in a picture always tell a story!p
Products used: Pink Paislee , Vintage Poppy, Zva Creative.com, Basic Grey.
Look out for my other L.O. for the Greek Challenges..
Talk again tomorrow.
Bye for now.
